It’s very important to know your body measurements! With them, you can find clothes that really fit you.
You’ve probably seen that sizes may vary from one brand to another, and finding a garment that fits our morphology is quickly becoming a nightmare….
That’s why knowing your measurements is very useful: it’s a universal language, and not specific to a company!
To avoid ordering mistakes, I’ll give you some little tips to know the body measurements that will be most useful to you.
After you have taken your measurements, I advise you to write them down carefully so that you can refer to them later if necessary!
- A tape measure;
- A big string / ribbon;
- A ruler (just measure the ribbon after each measurement).
In both cases, it’s easier to have someone who helps you take your body measurements.
The best way to take your measurements is to do it on your underwear or on the thinnest layer of clothing to have the right results.

Steps to take:
Waist: When you place your hands on your waist, they will rest on the hollowest place. This is precisely where you should place your tape to measure your waist circumference (about 5 cm above your navel).
Bust: To measure your bust size, place the tape on the tip of your breasts (without squeezing them), and go around your chest trying to keep the tape as straight as possible.
Hips: The hip circumference is at the fleshiest part of your buttocks.
Arm length: The arm length is measured with the arm slightly bent. It is taken on the outside of the arm. It goes from the tip of the shoulder to the small bone of the wrist, through the tip of the elbow.
Shoulder width: The shoulder width is measured from the base of the neck to the tip of the shoulder.
